Our curriculum is inspired by the thoughts, ideas, questions and theories of the children in the class. The teachers listen carefully and document the children’s ideas and questions. This documentation can take the form of photos or direct quotes. At this point teachers meet and decide upon the direction of study.

If, for example, the children are expressing an interest in African animals, the teachers will fill the room with books, pictures, toys and songs of Africa. If the children continue to maintain an interest in the subject, we will “study” Africa in many, many forms until the children’s interest wanes.

Our project on WHALES represents one such investigation which sprung from the children ‘s interest and continued for a period of three months.

After reading two whale stories including: The Blue Whale's Journey and Whale in the Sky, we discovered the children had many question.

CALLING ALL PICASSOS fundraiser included artwork by the children.
